This oil on panel is from a trip to Spirit Bear Lodge. It’s a picturesque location, right on the water at Klemtu, on the south-eastern side of Swindle Island in British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest. Absolutely gorgeous!
Plein Air is a French phrase, (en) plein air, has the literal translation of “in the open air”. It is used to describe a style of paintings or drawings created in the moment, primarily from nature and infused with a feeling of the open air. The artist’s challenge is to create an impression of a scene, capturing the atmosphere, feeling and immediacy of the moment.
